Amboli, nestled in the Sahyadri Hills of Maharashtra, transforms into a lush green paradise during the monsoon. Often referred to as the “Cherrapunji of Maharashtra” due to its heavy rainfall, Amboli is known for its mist-covered forests, cascading waterfalls, and cool, refreshing climate in the rainy season. The Amboli Ghat comes alive with seasonal streams and vibrant flora, making it a favorite among nature lovers, photographers, and monsoon trekkers. Popular spots like Amboli Waterfall and Hiranyakeshi Temple offer serene experiences amid the rain-soaked landscape. However, visitors should be cautious of slippery paths and leeches during this time.
Amboli Wild Nights: Herping & Beyond is an immersive nocturnal nature experience set in the rain-drenched forests of Amboli during the monsoon. This unique adventure focuses on herping—the search for amphibians and reptiles like frogs, snakes, geckos, and caecilians that become highly active in the wet season. Led by expert naturalists, participants venture into the forest after dark to discover the region’s rich biodiversity, including endemic species like the Malabar Gliding Frog and the Amboli Bush Frog. Beyond herping, the experience includes engaging discussions on rainforest ecology, macro photography opportunities, and responsible wildlife observation, making it a perfect blend of thrill, learning, and conservation awareness.
